Meet the Guides
Josh Dewitt

Location: Manitoba, Canada
Josh Dewitt’s passion for birds took flight at an early age when he received his first field guide on his 10th birthday. Since then, birdwatching has become a lifelong pursuit. Whether he’s scaling rugged mountains, exploring dense rainforests, paddling across secluded lakes, or rappelling into hidden caves, Josh is constantly searching for birds and other wildlife wherever he goes.
He has a deep love for connecting with fellow biologists and conservationists, and his involvement in numerous research and conservation efforts across his home province of Manitoba has given him a rich understanding of its ecosystems and history. Josh actively participates in citizen science, contributing to projects such as the Canadian Nightjar Survey and the Manitoba Nocturnal Owl Survey. He also serves as a regional coordinator for the Audubon Christmas Bird Count and was a part of the Manitoba Breeding Bird Atlas as well.
In addition to his conservation work, Josh has volunteered in wildlife rehabilitation, particularly focusing on birds of prey, and works in animal care at his local zoo. Wherever he finds himself, Josh is eager to share his deep knowledge and passion for nature with anyone who will listen, always striving to inspire others to care about the world around them.”
